Bodrum itself is only six kilometres or so by cab, or you can hop on one of the many dolmus buses, ideal if you want some serious shopping - bring an extra suitcase, you’ll need it for all the things you buy. Turgutreis spreads through a valley of olive groves, orchards and fig and almond trees. The waterfront faces west and sunsets over the offshore islands are mesmerising.
