CYPRUS

Cyprus

Cyprus is known as the island of love and this dazzling Mediterranean gem casts an enigmatic spell.

Map of Cyprus
Paphos

Once the ancient capital of Cyprus, Paphos is ideal for combining the pleasures of sightseeing with some relaxing beach life and boasts a fascinating old town full of winding alleyways, markets and shops. Culturally Paphos has much to keep you occupied, with plenty of ancient historical sites and monuments to explore such as the awesome Tomb of the Kings and Roman mosaics. There are a number of small sandy bays dotted in and around the town, many of which offer watersports and scuba-diving. There’s also the opportunity to check-out the Bouzouki clubs and bars scattered around the harbour where you will find a good choice of night-time activity to see you through until the early morning.

Factfile Protaras

This friendly resort is spread over 16 kilometres of coastline, most of it made up of stunning bays and idyllic little coves. Watersports and scuba-diving are permanent fixtures, although generally the air is one of unbroken relaxation and tranquillity. You’ll find shops, restaurants and tavernas aplenty. A number of pubs, lively bars and two discos are the source of some friendly night-life. The family atmosphere strikes an appealing balance between relaxation and fun, making Protaras an attractive holiday hotspot.

Ayia Napa

Ayia Napa is a real holiday hotspot, so be prepared to live hard and fast here. By day, most visitors head for Nissi Bay, a fabled stretch of silvery sand, but scattered around there are other beaches too, all offering terrific watersports including windsurfing, water-skiing and parasailing. The fountain in the town square is a lively meeting place, as is the main waterfront where you’ll find the many restaurants, bars and clubs responsible for Ayia Napa’s legendary and colourful night-life. After dark, there’s a good choice of eateries, serving everything from traditional Greek fare to pizza and pasta.
